In the current economic environment, it’s critical to stay abreast of your credit score. Fair Isaac Corporation, the FICO creator, and consumer reporting agency, provides credit monitoring services, as well as a free credit score. You can sign up for a free credit score through myFICO.com.
You can sign up for the services online and take a free trial. You’ll need to enter your credit card information, and it is charged after the free trial period. However, you can get a free credit score, as long as you cancel before the end of the 30-day trial. The company sends you alerts via email and text messages when the trial period is nearly over.
If you sign up for Score Watch at myFICO.com, you’ll receive two free credit scores, a credit report, and weekly score monitoring for a full year. You can pay a minimum monthly fee for a three-month period, or pay for a whole year of the service for $99.95. In addition to your free credit score, the company also offers a FICO Score Simulator, a tool that provides feedback on ways to improve your credit score. It also comes with "best action" and "what if" functions.
The functions explain what happens if you pay your creditors within three, six, or nine months. In essence, the simulator approximates your free credit score based on the action you take. The Score Simulator also monitors your Equifax credit file daily. It also gives you email notices of any key changes to your credit score. Additionally, the free credit score provided is an authentic FICO score used in mortgage lending. Keep in mind that it is only one of three FICO scores (Equifax, TransUnion, Experian) typically used.
